The Rio Salado Dental Clinic provides quality preventive dental hygiene services at discounted rates for the public-- while giving students practical educational experiences.
The clinic opened in late spring at its new location in Tempe, AZ. It features 20 patient chairs, six X-ray units, an instrument processing room and serves as an instructional lab where dental hygiene and dental assisting students gain hands-on experience working in a clinic setting.
“Rio Salado has one of the best dental hygiene programs in the nation. Our Clinical Dental Assisting Program is a unique combination of online and in person. It is one of three programs in the State of Arizona that is accredited."
The clinic can accommodate as many as 20 patients, with an equal number of dental hygiene students and dental assisting students during clinic hours. The students work under the supervision of licensed dentists, registered dental hygienists and certified dental assistants.
Patients should visit their family dentist for other needs such as major restorative work and surgeries. The clinic can provide patients with a list of community dental clinics if they do not already have a dentist.
In addition to the quality services provided by students, patients benefit from an affordable pricing structure.
“Rio Salado's dental clinic provides the best dental hygiene treatment possible, at a reduced fee for the patients,” Harper said. Currently, fees range from $25-35 depending on the age of the patient. The Rio Salado College Dental Clinic is located at 2250 W. 14th Street in Tempe. Clinic hours and appointments may vary. All new patients must have a screening visit prior to a dental hygiene appointment. To schedule a screening appointment, call (480) 377-4100.
