It’s that time of year again! Summer is around the corner, the weather is getting a lot warmer, many classes are ending, semesters are winding down, and students are stressed to the max! The finish line is close and you can make this last push count.
3 tips to help you succeed
1. Self-care Sleep! Many students put sleep on the back burner during stressful times, however, getting enough sleep is key when it comes to being successful in school. Exercise and eat healthy! Make time to feel good…a brisk 30 minute walk and an apple will do a body wonders. Students should take time to treat themselves! All of those things that are so enjoyable (reading, catching a movie, social hour with friends) do them!
2. Get Help Take advantage of tutors, instructors, counselors, etc. Rio Salado College offers tutoring and students really need to take advantage of that. It’s free and so worth the trip to work with someone who understands your subject. Make an appointment with a counselor! Rio Salado’s Counseling Department can definitely help with time management, test anxiety, study skills, and more. Finally, ask your instructor questions…they have been where you are and really want to help.
3. Plan and work your plan-- avoid cramming Sit down and take a look at your schedule, obligations, and courses/assignments. Make a to-do list on the best course of action to get exams and projects done. Avoid cramming! This is very critical. Staying up and studying all night before a final exam will not be nearly as beneficial as studying material several times over a longer period.
Remember, this is a season. Finals, projects, classes do not last forever. Finish out strong and look forward to celebrating your successes in just a few short weeks. You can do it!
