Nina Mason & MCCCDF Scholarship Apps Due 3/1

You only have FIVE DAYS left to apply for Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation​ (MCCCDF) scholarships-- including the Nina Mason Pulliam Legacy ‪Scholarship.‬ 

The Nina Mason scholarship is designed to provide unique opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds in which they can obtain the resources and financial support needed in order to successfully complete their college education.

This scholarship program covers full tuition, fees and books, while providing each student with an academic advisor and mentor. It also includes a $2,750 annual living allowance.

The scholarship is available to all Maricopa Community Colleges students who meet one of these criteria:
  • Adults 25 years or older with dependents
  • College-age youth and adults living with physical disabilities
  • Incoming freshmen ages 18-25, raised through the child welfare system and have no form of financial support

100K Job Fair & Forum for Youth 2/27 & 3/1

Rio Salado is proud to join the Maricopa Community Colleges and Opportunities for Youth for the second annual 100k Opportunities Initiative Fair & Forum.

Build public support to help disconnected youth reengage in school and work. 2. Build a system of support that ensures all youth-serving organizations serving this population have the principles, standards and processes that will help youth be successful.  3. Build a system of collaboration and alignment to avoid duplication and to effectively serve as many youth as possible.
The two-day event is designed to help young adults ages 16-24 prepare for and find gainful employment—with guaranteed interviews for participants who attend a pre-fair training session.

Presidents' Day Closure, Monday Feb. 20

Presidents' Day originally celebrated the anniversary of George Washington's birthday (February 22) but now encompasses Abraham Lincoln's birthday (February 12) and remembrance of all past presidents.

Celebrate Black History Month!

The month of February is Black History Month or African American History Month. It is an annual celebration of achievements of black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history.

FREE Teacher Ed Job Interview Workshop


We know that Rio Salado's Teacher Education program can prepare you to be a teacher, but are you prepared to share your resume with potential employers and stand out during interviews? 

Rio Salado's Teacher Education Team and Noyce Scholars are hosting a workshop to help students prepare resumes and cover letters, and practice job interviewing skills. Join us on Thu., Feb. 23 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Rio Salado Conference Center. Students who attend the workshop have the option to participate in mock interviews with local school district partners at a separate event on March 30.

Students will learn about:
  • Writing effective cover letters
  • Developing eye catching resumes
  • Preparing for interviews & tips
  • 1-2 Minute Elevator Speech
  • Resources for successful job interviewing
